Brickguess FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about identifying LEGO minifigures, pricing accuracy, scan modes, image formats, and how Brickguess handles your data.
What is Brickguess?
Brickguess is a free AI-powered LEGO minifigure identifier and scanner. Upload a photo of one or more LEGO minifigs and Brickguess will detect each fig, match it against the BrickLink catalog, and show you what each one is worth. It works in any modern browser — no app to install, no signup, and no account required.
Is there a free LEGO minifigure scanner?
Yes — Brickguess is exactly that. It's a free LEGO minifig scanner and value checker that runs in your browser. Take a photo of a lot of minifigures and the AI identifies each fig and pulls live BrickLink prices, so you can decide whether to buy or how much to ask when selling.
How do I identify a LEGO minifigure from a photo?
Open Brickguess in any browser, tap Take Photo (or drag a saved image into the upload area), and wait a few seconds. Our detection model finds every minifigure in the photo, then our identification model matches each fig against the BrickLink catalog of thousands of known minifigs. Each result comes with a confidence score and a current BrickLink average price.
What minifigures can Brickguess identify?
Brickguess can identify thousands of LEGO minifigures spanning themes like Star Wars, Marvel, Harry Potter, City, Ninjago, and many more. The identification catalog is based on BrickLink's extensive database of minifigure entries. Very rare promotional figures, extremely new releases, or custom/modified figures may not yet be in the catalog.
How accurate is the identification?
Accuracy depends on image quality, lighting, the angle of the figure, and how distinctive the figure's printing and accessories are. For clear, well-lit photos of common minifigures, identification accuracy is generally high. Each result includes a confidence score so you can judge for yourself how certain the match is.
Where do the prices come from?
All pricing data comes from BrickLink, the world's largest online LEGO marketplace. Brickguess pulls recent sold prices for used minifigures to give you a realistic picture of current market value. These are actual completed transactions, not asking prices.
Is Brickguess free to use?
Yes, Brickguess is completely free. There are no accounts to create, no subscriptions, and no limits on the number of scans you can run. The service is supported by advertising.
What is the difference between Quick Scan and Deep Scan?
Quick Scan is the faster option and works well for most photos — it detects and identifies minifigures across the entire image in one pass. Deep Scan takes longer but applies additional processing for improved accuracy and lets you select a specific region of the image to focus on, which is especially useful for large or cluttered photos.
Can I scan an entire collection at once?
You can scan photos containing multiple minifigures in a single image. For very large collections, you'll get better results by photographing smaller groups of 10 to 20 figures at a time rather than trying to fit 100 figures into one frame. You can run as many scans as you want.
What image formats are supported?
Brickguess accepts JPEG, PNG, and WebP image formats. You can upload photos taken directly with your phone camera, screenshots from online listings, or images saved from the web.
Why are some figures marked as Unknown?
A figure is marked as Unknown when the detection model finds a minifigure in the image but the identification model cannot match it to a known catalog entry with sufficient confidence. This can happen if the figure is too small or blurry, photographed from an awkward angle, custom/modified, or if the detector picked up a non-minifigure object.
How does Brickguess work on mobile devices?
Brickguess is a web application that works in any modern mobile browser — no app to download. You can take a photo directly using the camera button or upload an existing image from your gallery. Convenient to use in the field at garage sales, thrift stores, or conventions for a quick value check.
Is my data stored? What happens to my images?
Uploaded images are processed in real-time and discarded after processing. We don't permanently store your photos or build any image library from user uploads without explicit consent. There are no user accounts. The only thing stored locally is your cookie consent preference.
Can I use Brickguess for buying decisions?
Brickguess is designed to help you make more informed buying decisions by giving a quick estimate of minifigure values from recent BrickLink sales. The prices are estimates, not appraisals — actual sale value depends on condition, completeness, market timing, and where you sell. Use values as a reference point alongside your own judgment.
