PCGR — Which Retired LEGO Sets Keep Appreciating
PCGR (Projected Comp Growth Rate) estimates a retired LEGO set's forward five-year annualized appreciation, measured from its current value — not its original retail.
Forward growth, not past returns
Most of a set's gain happens in a window around and after retirement. A set that already had that jump has banked most of its move, so its remaining upside is lower — even if its historical return looks spectacular. PCGR reflects that: a freshly retired set early in its climb shows a higher number; a mature set at its plateau shows a low one.
How to use it
Higher PCGR means more projected forward growth — a candidate to hold. Low or zero PCGR means little room left — a candidate to sell. It is a decision aid for ranking a collection, not a price or a guarantee.
